3 Little Mistakes That Could Send People Away

Writen by Valerian Dinca

Advertising has always been a method designed to change human behavior by getting people to purchase a certain product or service.

Now the internet has changed that, advertising merely has to deflect human behavior, to divert curiosity from an advertisement or commercial to a website. Big and small online businesses are discovering that truth: internet advertising is not anymore what it used to be.

An Internet Advertising Campaign should consist in developing of five tactics for:

  • Driving people to your website

  • Keeping people at the website

  • Getting people back ( once they've left the website )

  • Closing the deal

  • Running the "Back-End"

I think you agree that it's hard enough to bring people to your little slice of cyberspace, and once they're inside, you have just a very few brief seconds to catch their attention. If your site is not prepared enough, a simple click and your site visitor is gone!

It's hard to give a perfect solution to all above points. But I can help you with some main blunders you should avoid in order to keep as many interested prospects on your site.

    1. Slow downloading.

Most of the time the visitor is in a big rush. S/he knows that time is money and s/he think that in every situation moving fast means to earn more. The visitor in looking for a big goal and, from this big rush perspective, if your site is running very slow that means there is nothing interesting inside. Then take care to avoid big pictures or large pages. Do not use too many sophisticated scripts and applets, they work slow as well.

    2. Multiple popup and popunder windows.

Is fact that most people simply do NOT appreciate multiple popups or popunders! Try to guess what will think a visitor coming to your site when s/he sees a lot of windows popping like crazy. With no doubt this visitor will be confused, scared maybe, and his choice will be to go anywhere, just to find an escape.

    3. Unreadable text.

Certain texts are easier to read than others. For example, everybody knows that dark text on a light background is the easiest to read. The reverse -- like white text on black background -- can cause fatigue when reading large pages of text. This technique is better used just to highlight a portion of the page, but not very often. On the other hand, a text that is too small can cause problems.

As a general rule try to avoid everything that could make people feel uncomfortable, because they will choose to leave your cyber-island.

    Emarketing Basics

    Writen by Matt Bacak

eMarketing, commonly known as an Internet marketing tool, refers to 'how' businesses market their services or products online. In this new age of technology, an Internet presence directly affects the success of a business. From an ecommerce site to an informational site, eMarketing begins at your homepage.

    Utilize a Website

Every website has one goal and that is to heighten the interest of the reader. For the homepage to be an effective eMarketing tool, web content needs to follow the search engine optimized (SEO) techniques outlined by search engine domains like Google and Yahoo. Once landing on your site, the content will act as a sales letter.

Whether you operate a service or sell products, eMarketing is more affordable than the traditional means of marketing. Over 130,000,000 people surf the Internet daily. It would take a hefty investment to reach this number of people in the more traditional means of marketing.

Producing a website that ranks well in the search engines, will assist you in obtaining more visitors and visitors easily convert into customers at a rather amazing rate.

    Cost Comparison

Printing promotional material can be quite costly. With a website, this cost is significantly lower because your site eliminates the need for brochures or an abundance of business cards. Instead of sending a new prospective literature in the mail, re-direct them to your website. It will guide potential customers through the basics of your business.

Studies show that the per-reader response rates of newspaper advertisements are low. This is due to the number of readers that scan over your add that really have not interest in your services or products. Online readers, however, are a direct result of search engines. These people want to know more about your services or products. The likelihood of turning visitors into customers is higher.

    Advertising Campaign

With eMarketing, the cost of an advertising campaign is drastically lower. The same rules apply but with less effort. You'll need to locate your target market, address their interest, and show how they can benefit.

Typical, ezines or announcements serve as an eMarketing campaign medium. Utilizing these mediums will improve your online business. Here's how you can get started:

Ezines: Ezines are nothing more than an electronic newsletter. There are several services online that will assist you in writing an ezine. But use caution! It's bad business to send an ezine to someone who hasn't subscribed.

Announcements: Announcements are similar to a press release. Using the electronic transfer of news to an email box, you can announce new events, new services, and new products a lot faster.

    Hottest eMarketing Tool

Today, e-books are the hottest marketing tool of the Twentieth Century. Once Internet Gurus grasp the concept of selling their services or products with an e-book, the market jumped. Adding an e-book to your tools of eMarketing is a smart move.

E-books consist of hidden links (as in, not apparent) that the inexperienced e-book reader can't see. These links help promote affiliate programs and sell your services or products. The readers click through the e-book and find themselves at your site.

E-books are an eMarketing medium that needs careful planning. It makes no sense to develop an e-book on dogs if you sell household appliances. To be successful at eMarketing with e-books, you need to write content related to your business. For instance:

    · Home Improvement - How to Design a Kitchen

    · Accountant - How Small Businesses can Benefit From a CPA

    · Web Developer - How a Website Can Help

    Bottom Line

eMarketing has saved businesses thousands of advertising dollars. It's an effective marketing tool that every business should take advantage of. With a better understanding of how eMarketing can help improve your business, you can prepare for an eMarketing campaign that will exceed all of your expectations.

Understanding The Power Of Viral Marketing Online

    Writen by Lois S.

The story of how Hotmail moved from zero to a couple of million subscribers in a few months is one that is often told in many sites all over the net. However it is a story that many do not quite understand. If they understood it, we would be seeing many more online success stories and fewer online failures. Because the word has also been over-used by hype peddlers, many times people associate the word viral with spamming and other online activities bordering on the illegal.

Viral growth and marketing has always been with us.

They fail to realize that viral growth and marketing is not something new to the human race. In fact it has been there since the beginning of time. The human race began with two people, Adam and Eve. Today the human race has filled virtually every corner of this huge planet. Many religions of the world started with a single person but were quickly "virally marketed" to reach millions.

Even the now World Wide Web started off as a few computers, mainly used by researchers, linked together. But as they continuously enjoyed their experience and as new software and technology was made available for more people to join this small "web of linked computers" it suddenly started growing. The growth within a very short time has been explosive and it has all been viral. So let us be clear that viral marketing was not invented or created by the net, the net in fact used it to grow to what it is today.

Viral marketing will only work with something useful.

As many MLM and network marketing people have discovered, viral marketing will not work with products that people do not find useful. Some marketing experts have always turned to viral marketing in the form of MLM or network marketing to push and clear stocks of a product that has totally failed in the market. Where they think they have succeeded, they have only ruined their credibility and that of their businesses as folks have ended up with massive stocks of some useless item stored in their garage because they believed somebody who told them they would make a lot of money. This is the chief reason why Multi-level Marketing (which is pure viral marketing) has such a bad name with many people.

The internet is a natural for viral marketing.

The reason why Hotmail was so successful so quickly is because the net actually multiplies and speeds up the viral effect. In real life you may forget the name of the movie you liked so much when you are telling a friend about it, or the name of the book you read last year.

On the internet, forwarding an interesting article usually involves a few quick clicks and even if you forget the title of the book, a quick visit to your favorite search engine armed with the few keywords or just the name of the author will yield the book for you complete with the current online specially offer price for it.

If you want to succeed online you can't avoid thinking viral.

Anybody who wants explosive growth and success in any online endeavour cannot avoid thinking "virally" in all their marketing plans. Failing to use this powerful marketing method, that has been successfully used since the beginning of time, will be a very unfortunate thing indeed.

    Leveraged Information More Website Traffic

    Writen by Mark Smock

If leveraging unique or proprietary information is one of your fundamental strategies to increase unique visitor traffic to your web based business then it is important to understand seven fundamental information perspectives you can use to give your company the edge it needs to effectively compete in the marketplace.

As the internet continues to evolve and become more competitive, the dependency of the quality of the information you provide via your website becomes more critical to market niches.

As information processors we rarely, consciously think about HOW we absorb all the information we take in via the internet. It is reasonable to assume that two of our six senses, vision and hearing, represent the most significant means used to absorb information on the web. Although seeing copy and hearing sounds coming from information provided, it makes sense from a strategic marketing perspective, to take a moment to evaluate how virtual information can be best absorbed via seven fundamental information perspectives.

    Seven Fundamental Information Perspectives

    1) Information Exclusivity:

    * How unique, original or proprietary is your website information?

    * Infinite choices of common information equates to clutter and boredom.

    * The "value" of information provided is always unique to every visitor

    * Emphasizing the uniqueness of your information also gives it more worth

    2) Information Quantity:

    * How much website information is too much?

    * Detail overload can quickly exceed site visitor's interest levels

    * Volume of information provided should correlate with the breadth of the information requirements of your targeted market niche

    3) Information Distinction:

    * How unique should your website words and terms be?

    * Markets and industries have distinct information terms and sayings

    * Try to "talk the talk" of your targeted market niche on your website

    * Distinctive information can be the critical purchase decision variable

    4) Information Accuracy:

    * How accurate does your website information have to be?

    * Information accuracy requirements correlate to the potential liability of negative consequences that result from information incorrectness.

    * Earning the trust of your website visitors is an on going, consistent process

    5) Information Timeliness:

    * How "current" does your website information have to be?

    * The speed of information delivery often adds perceived value

    * Often competitive advantage goes to the source with the "information shortcut" * Out-of-date information is often associated with poor customer service

    6) Information Interactivity:

    * To what degree are website visitor responses critical to intended message absorption rates and communication effectiveness?

    * Maintaining a dialogue with your visitor equates to increased loyalty

    * Increasing dependency of visitor responses decreases broadcast effectiveness

    7) Information Format:

    * What is the most effective way to structure your website messages?

    * Information absorption is best achieved in small increments

    * Simplifying the visual structure of your website information "invites" readership

    * User-friendly information navigation maximizes visitor website involvement

Every web based business is vulnerable to new competitors within their targeted virtual market niches. There will inevitably always be someone else who can provide the same or similar product, service or information in a different way or via other creative communication tactics. Although different is not always better, as a virtual customer solution provider you are obligated to always focus, understand and improve your website visitor's perceptions and their ability to "get your message".

Understanding the seven fundamental perspectives of information flow can make a significant difference in your ability to differentiate your virtual messages from the increasing bandwidth of information flow on the internet.

    How Old Is Too Old

    Writen by Larry Winebrenner

How does a 74-year-old newbie break into the world of Internet marketing?

You gotta admire an old codger like that trying to break into a complex, technical, all-new-to-him field at that age. You want to find out more about such a guy.

    Is he kinda demented?

    What's his business background?

Does he have a chance to succeed?

You have all kinds of questions you'd like to ask if you interviewed him. I looked him up. I asked questions.

Me: Why are you venturing into this field at your age?

Him: I needed money, I wanted to get started before I got too old.

Me: What makes you think you can succeed? Do you have computer experience? Business background?

Him: Why shouldn't I succeed? Look at all the other people who have succeed. I read about a 7-year-old boy who established a very successful Internet business. Surely I'm as smart as a 7-year-old!

Business experience? I've sold vacuum cleaners door to door. And I did pretty well as an insurance salesman.

My computer experience so far is playing solitaire and using email.

    Me: What's your strategy?

Him: I figured I should find the most successful Internet marketer and emulate him.

    Me: Who did you find?

Him: Well, there were about as many suggestions as there were people I asked. But one name kept popping up. Mark Joyner.

    Me: So you copied him?

Him: Well, not right away. I got ahold of his number and called him. Nice guy. I told him what I wanted. He said my best bet was to read a book he wrote called Confidential Internet Intelligence Manuscript. That's quite a mouthful.

But I got it. I read it. That's quite an eyeful.

Me: So did you use any of his ideas?

Him: I'm glad you said "any." I don't think anyone could use all of them in a lifetime. Even a lifetime for a young feller like you.

But I got started. You wondered if I could succeed? I started like gangbusters. Then it happened.

    Me: What happened?

Him: I found out he had written a sequel. He calls it CIIM: Volume 2.

    Me: And you bought it

Him: Bought and read it. Man, I didn't believe any one man could possess such knowledge. Let alone put it into simple language that even a newbie like me could understand.

Me: Did you use the info from the second volume?

Him: Well, I was doing so well following the first book that I hated to change horses in the middle of the stream. But his second horse was so much better, I slipped on over to using it.

    Me: Any change?

Him: I'll tell you what. You can go to one of my pages and find out. It's a page I put up to tell folks everything I found out about Mark Joyner and his books. Notice, I said everything I found out. You gotta believe its not everything about him. I don't think any one human can know everything about a man like Mark Joyner.

Don't misunderstand. I didn't write the page. Web copywriting is a skill I'm working on. But I found a great information piece, got permission, and set it up.

That's one of the basic things Mark taught me. Start making money right way selling other people's stuff. Works like a charm.

Me: O.K. You've got me hooked. Where do I go to see this page of yours?

    Him: Try http://www.home-bible-study.com/HoOld.html

By the way. Don't tell folks I'm 74 years old. They won't want to visit my sites.

Me: Tell you what. I just won't mention your name. I think your age makes a wonderful story.

    Him: O.K.

I wish I could tell you his name. I know it's going to start showing up more and more as folks discuss Internet success.

But I'll tell you one thing for sure. He was right about Mark Joyner's books. I'm half way through Volume 2 for the second time.

    And I hate to read!

Online Money Making Not So Easy

    Writen by Venkatesan R

"You can earn money online $1,000/day or per month with few hours work in a week " more or less like this type of some advertisement you can see all over the Internet. Really is it possible for all the people who are interested in moneymaking on Internet? No it is impossible for all the ordinary people who wish to earn money through Internet. Because there is lot of competition in the Internet world. And you can also see that the most of the advertisement contains "Earn Money through Affiliate programs, Google adwords, Money making through Blogs, Money making through websites, Earn money with adsense, Earn money with out websites". All these program owners are really earning money.

Many articles, websites, forums and many E-Books have been written about the moneymaking opportunities on Internet. Still lots of websites and articles and E-Books are coming in to the Internet world. When people new to Internet come through this articles or websites they definitely believe that all this information are true, and some people join in this type programs. After spending more money and golden time they feel it is impossible to make money on Internet, So most of them quit. You can hear lots of websites were closed and some websites are making very less money .In these websites, their earning is used for maintaining the websites, and not for the additional income. Lot of money is required for advertising. Google is a pay per click advertising program. Depends upon the adwords you have to spend $0.05 to $ 10 and more per click. All clicks will not be converted into sales or leads. Some times you can convert this click into sales or leads some time it doesn't.

Then really who can earn money online? The moneymaking E-Book website owners are really earning big money. Some of their affiliate marketers are making money. Does all of the affiliates are really making money? Again it is the question mark. Two or more affiliates are promoting one affiliate program. And there is also lot competition. The result is lot of websites and articles and forums you can see in the Internet promoting the same product. If you purchased an E-Book you should follow the instruction provided by the author .It requires some additional cost if you wish to do it in the long term.

If you are a new to Internet and interested in moneymaking, please do the research before choosing a field and find your own way. Some people are really guiding well and providing very good service, you have to find them, and you can take the help from them. But initially you should invest little amount. To succeed in the Internet world you need smart work, patience, persistence and creativity are required. Everybody is unique. Everyone has talent. Find your strength and quality and improve it. You can also make money with online or offline. Don't follow other's footstep. Find your own way .You can create a new market, product or service then you can sell in online or offline. If you give quality with reliability then people will purchase your product or service.

    Wish you all the best.

    Thanks

How Many Sales Have You Made After Your Advertising Campaign

    Writen by Radhika Venkata

When you start your online business, you will go through a series of steps like:

    ==>Domain registration

==>Website designing and installing your inventory and order links

==>Advertising about your products or service

Regarding advertising, you should always target your audience. When you are selling garden tools in Miami, you will get better results with offline advertising and Joint Ventures with other websites that are focused on Gardening and pointing to Miami area.

After Advertising, one important step is 'TESTING' your advertising campaign.

    Why?

Look at this example. You spent $50 on keeping an ad on some famous site or a email campaign.Let's say this is one time ad.

If you don't know how many people clicked on your URL or how many people bought your product coming through that link, how are you going to spend another $50 on the same advertising method?

Rather than Click thrus you can go one step further and calculate the number of sales per one advertising method.

Here are few methods you can use to track your results.

    **1. Email Tracking:

If you have ezine and you are keeping your subscription email links in different places like other ezines, websites and ebooks, you can give a little code to your email address.

    Like this-

    subscribe@yourdomain.com?subject=ezine

    subscribe@yourdomain.com?subject=ebook

First one in ezines and second one in your ebook. That little code goes in to subject area of emails.

By seeing your emails you can know from where you are getting more response.

    **2. URL Tracking:

There are different ways to track your URLs.

You can keep your URL with a little code similar to emails.

    www.yourdomain.com/product.html?source=ebook

You can also upload a different page for your each ad campaign.See the example below.

You have a page like- www.yourdomain.com/product.html

Then you can upoload the same page with different URL like- www.yourdomain.com/prod.html

So the visitors that comes to that page can be seen in your weblogs. If you have a good logging software you can save all the visitors information for that particular page.Check this weblogger-

    http://www.logitpro.com/
    http://perlonline.com/

This weblogger tells you exactly how many hits are taking by one webpage and referers.

So you can see how many hits are coming to your '/prod.html' page and referers.

    **3. Click Tracking Software:

Click tracking script is a cgi script that gives you information about a click. The click may be on your website, emails, ezines, banners or anything.

If the click tracking script tells you the number of clicks it is not going to be useful to you. Because you can't differentiate the people buying through your campaign links or your regular links.

So what a Click tracking script should tell you?

    1. Tell the number of clicks to tell the click thru ratio:

By this you can optimize your ads. If a specified ad get low click thrus you can change the optimize it.

    2. Tell the ip address of the visitor.

By this you can know which ad bringing you the sales. If a particular ip clicking on a specific link buys your product you can know that ad campaign's ROI.

    3. Tells the geographical distribution of the clicks.

This is useful when you want to know how many clicks coming from different countries. Like if you see 'jp' with ip address, you can know the visitor from Japan. But this is not possible in all cases.

    http://www.scripts4webmasters.com/clicktracking/index.shtml

This is a FREE Click tracking script that gives you all needed information. It comes with easy admin panel.

IMPORTANT TIPS IN TESTING YOUR ADs:

==>If you think your URL is 'Alive', don't delete that page on your server.

If you keep an ad in your ezine articles and submit to other ezines, your articles will be spread all over the net after a while. If you delete that URL on your server people will get '404 page not found' error and you will lose your potential visitor.

==>In email campaigns consider short URLs. Long URLs will break up in to two lines and the reader can not click on it to get your desired page.

==>Test ONE VARIABLE at a time. Suppose you want to check the response and sales rate for two different types of sales letter and by giving free gifts with your product. Don't test both at once. First check the sales page variable. If you don't get good response then go to free gifts variable.

If you get good response to one of the sales pages, then use the free gifts method in different advertising campaign.

    Good luck!!

Contribution Of Weblog As A Tool Of Online Marketing A Panorama

    Writen by Purna Borkotoki

"A weblog (usually shortened to blog, but occasionally spelled web log) is a web application presented as a webpage consisting of periodic posts, normally in reverse chronological order"- en.wikipedia.org/. As you add content to your blog, new posts are automatically positioned on top of previous posts, so your visitors can see "what's new." Then they can comment on it or link to it or e-mail you if they choose to do so. A weblog is edited, organized and published often through a content management system or CMS. The blogs are online diaries or journals where blogger expresses his feelings, creativity, research work with like minded surfers through her periodic articles. Or weblog can be resembled to an online diary where blogger submits his frequently visited links for reference of the visitors.

The history of weblog can be traced back to the first website, http://info.cern.ch/, the site built by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN. In the '90s there were a handful of websites and the life was so easy. But with with the cluttering of thousands of new websites each day, things turned to be complicated and it became harder to find relevant information easily. Some novel eWiz like Brigitte Eaton, Jorn Barger, Peter Merholz, James Garrett,Cameron Barrett produced an alternative way to thread a particular topic related websites in a page or link for more convenience of the surfers to find content oriented sites in a single bucket ! The idea grew popularity, and a number of webmasters each day sent their URLs for listing in their websites. The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger in December 1997. The shorter version, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz in 1999. As of March 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary included the terms weblog, weblogging and weblogger in their dictionary. Until '98 there were only a handful of weblogs in the net, but according to a report, more than 14 million blogs being published by the first quarter of 2005 !!

The popularity of Weblog is gaining momentum. As per a survey conducted by Comscore.com, 50 Million US population ( i.e- 1 in 6 of total US population or 30% of the total US online population) visited blog sites in the first quarter of 2005. This represents a 45% increase compared to the quarter one of 2004. Blog visitors are 11% more likely than the average Internet user to have incomes of $75,000 or more. According to the study, an average blog visitor spends 23 hours per weak online, while average Internet users spent 13 hours online."The study also found that the blog visitors are 30% more likely to buy products or services online. While less that 40% of the total Internet population made an online purchase at Q1 of 2005, 51% of the blog visitors did"- Comscore.com. This is just a replica of the universal acceptability of weblog these days. If you are an online marketer or thinking to start an online venture, I believe weblog is the best tool of Internet marketing. Do you don't think so??

Like Ezine ads, an Affiliate can use weblog as a futuristic tool of online marketing. With a decent and cool content writting, even a starter categorically can create a big blogsphere and use it as a perpetual passive mean of generating targeted traffic. The advantages of weblog over concurrent websites as a tool of online marketing are astoundingly multifarious.

First, weblogs are SE friendly i.e. you never have to submit your blog to any search engine. After you publish, your blog it will be submitted to the common search engines by the blog service provider. You never have to bother about on page criterions. Your META TAGS and KEY WORDs will be set automatically, eliminating the risk of keyword manipulation.

Second, zero designing and operation cost. You never have to hire a web designer for designing your weblog, just choose the right template and publish.

Third, Ping and Podcasting facilities promoting weblog as a viral marketing tool. With single click you are informing the whole world about your latest article updates.

Fourth, the next advantage of weblog over a web site is the trackback facility, an automatic notification between websites of related content-such as a post on a particular topic or one which responds to a post on another blog . Use Trackback links when you quote or refer to other blog posts.

Fifth, blogs are more likely RSS ( Really Simple Syndication) integrated. All blog service providers, including Blogger.com provide RSS feed link. When you update your new posting in weblog and you use RSS feed, the SE crawlers will visit your site and publish your content to across world wide web, all silently.

Sixth, another great feature of blog is use of comment Seventh, blog is a more personalized form of ezine. In ezines and websites we express either our knowledge or services, but in blog we can express our live experiences as if we are talking to our best friend. Personalisation of postings increases the Conversion Ratio of traffic to customer.

Home Based Internet Business Researching For Niche Markets

    Writen by Timothy Spaulding

So you have decided to start a home based business on the internet and want to find niche markets to promote to. If you are like many people you probably are not sure how to do the research. Nor are you sure if a niche market is open to additional competition and has a sizeable demand, or if the niche is closed off to new entry. The bottom line is there is almost always demand in niche markets, and if you feel the demand is being met then there is most likely demand for additional niches within that niche market. When researching niche markets and trying to decide what would be most profitable, you should first look at what you enjoy and would be best at doing day in and day out.

The reason you need to analyze your strengths and desires is because you want your home based business to be successful and profitable, and if you don't enjoy what you do you will not be able to give it the attention it needs to grow, regardless of the demand within the niche. So, evaluate what you like, what your skills are, what services or products you can provide, and then begin figuring out the niche for your particular skills and products. If you don't feel there is a high demand, or the market is already saturated, then consider altering your product or service a bit so there is a niche market for it. All you really need is a little creativity.

In addition, you will need to consider your competition. Research the Internet for other competitors and what they offer and how they offer it. Find a way to offer something more for less, or offer specialized products and/or services so they are not exactly like competitors. All of these actions will differentiate you from the rest.

Once you have decided on your niche market, or on several, you will want to come up with several hundred popular keywords that describe this niche market or that people might use when searching on search engines. Then, run these keywords through a program that will tell you their relevancy and how often they are searched for. A good web site for analyzing keywords is Nichebot, http://www.nichebot.com. If you have several niche markets in mind, you will want to go with the one that is searched for the most because this one has the most demand. If you have only one in mind, make sure the number of people searching for your product or service will make it worthwhile for you to engage in it.

Don't spend your time looking for niches that are completely wide open because they, for all intents and purposes, do not exist. Conversely, there are many niche markets that are under filled and could handle additional competition.

Once you have entered a niche market, always provide consistent and professional service, maintain your web page and products, change your marketing tools or products if necessary to react to new competition, and always be on the lookout. As long as you are a proactive and aggressive competitor you will find success.

How To Make Your Business Fail In Ten Days

    Writen by Marsha James

    1. Do get a web page at a cheap hosting site. Preferrably a free place that will put there banners and ads all over diminishing anything you are trying to sell.

    2. Do put up your own banners everywhere making it hard to navigate and hard for anyone to not get a headache just looking at the main page. After all we don't want them coming back.

    3. Do make make sure that when a visitor clicks on a link and goes to another page, they have no way of getting back to the main of your site. We want them so hopelessly lost they have no choice but to go elsewhere. We don't want to have repeat customers do we?

    4. Make the background and text virtually the same color so that prospective visitors have to squint themselves into oblivion just to make out a letter.

    5. Also be sure to make the text so small they will have wonder if there actually looking at specks of dirt instead of words.

    6. Don't ever get a mailing list. We don't want those nosy people to be able to find you or your website again do we?

    7. Do get a GIGANTIC, colorful logo or text. Make sure it spins, spits fire, dazzles, and confuses your audience. That way they will be so hypnotized they'll forget there own name AND your website address. And speaking of web address...

    8. Don't get a short, easily remembered address. Get an address so long it will be three sentences long when put in ms word and be rejected by most search engines.

    9. Under no circumstances do you submit your site to any search engines. By submitting your website you are making it to easy for people to find your business. We want them to work for it. Why should you do all the hard stuff and they just stroll in? Give them a challenge. People like that.

    10. Do not ever put your website address in your email signature, on tshirts, pens/pencils, coffee mugs or other good advertising products. If you do that then word of mouth might start and you will have all this traffic coming onto your webpage and we are trying to avoid that aren't we?

    11. Most of all, and this is the most important, Do not tell ANYONE about your business website. It's a secret, so treat it as one. Don't put it in your forum signature, in your blog, in articles, or advertisements offline. That means no search engines, adsense, adwords, or overture. This is your secret so keep it close to your vest.

Follow all these rules and in less than 10 days you can sit and reap the sweet victory of having a failed business, no income and no customers. Good Luck.

When To Use Free Stuff To Market Your Products And Services

    Writen by Bill Platt

    SIT AND CONTEMPLATE THIS STORY

In 1999, I was contacted by a furniture company asking for advice about how to turn around their internet business. It seems that they were very successful in the non-digital, real-world, business environment. They were a small enterprise generating a few million dollars a year in sales for their furniture products.

Yet, they had been on the internet for three years at that time, and they had yet to sell their first piece of furniture online.

As was explained to me, they were pumping the traffic through their website to the tune of 100,000 unique visitors every month. But, for some reason, they were selling zero products.

This was a manufacturing company who was trying to jump into the retail market through their website.

I took a look at their site. Their products looked excellent. Their website could have been tweaked to make it easier to navigate. They could have changed the color scheme to make it a bit more attractive and easier on the eyes.

But, the truth be known, manufacturers are not always the best people to write the sales copy for their products. Sure, their descriptions were great if they were using their websites to reach out to more retailers and wholesale agents, but they were trying to reach into the direct retail market.

They honestly needed a different type of copywriter to sit down and write the sales copy for their products. They needed someone who specialized in selling products to the end user rather than someone who was good at selling to the people who wished to buy and sell their products. They also needed a copywriter who understood the nuances of using words to help drive targeted traffic to their website through the search engines and online advertising.

Each of these points helped them to better tailor their website to reach their intended customers. But, the one point that helped them to turn their bad money into good money was to recognize that they Should Not give away a free office chair every month to some lucky visitor.

I don't know if you realize it or not, but there are hundreds of websites and ezines dedicated to help people to find free stuff on the internet for the taking.

My ex-girlfriend spent a solid six months online looking for free stuff and registering for give-aways. She was knocking down anywhere from $300 to $500 per month just in free products from the websites she visited.

The important question to ask yourself is this.

Did she ever intend to buy a single product from a single website that she visited??? Nope. She was Not on the internet to buy things. She was on the internet to Get free things.

In the previous 18 months, the furniture company that I was advising had given away 18 office chairs with a value of $300 each.

As soon as they removed the monthly drawing for a free chair, their traffic nearly dried up. As it turned out, 98% of their site traffic was only dropping around to register for a chance to win a free chair.

Now, our furniture company was ready to get down to the business of selling chairs without wasting their resources on people who were there only for the freebie.

THERE IS A TIME AND PLACE FOR EVERYTHING, INCLUDING "FREE"

So-called internet guru's jump up on their soapboxes and declare that you should give away something in order to drive paying customers to your website.

What kind of "customers" do they say??? Paying Customers???

    I don't think so.

If the thing that you are giving away has any real value, then be prepared for an onslaught of freebie-seekers to come around sucking up your bandwidth and your free products and services of value.

If what you are offering has zero real value, then you need to know that the people you are trying to draw in with your freebie will see right through your offer and see you for the sham that you are trying to sell.

FREE EBOOKS OR FREE ADS TO GET SUBSCRIBERS

I used to believe that I could offer a free ebook to people to get them to subscribe to my ezine. I should have known better.

For a six-week period, I tested the concept of "free" to get subscribers for my own ezine. On the surface, it worked great. Under the microscope, it was an abject failure.

In the six weeks that I offered a free ebook in exchange for a new subscriber, I netted 500 new subscribers per week. Then on the following week, I noticed that I had really only netted 50 new subscribers for my efforts. Okay cool, I thought, I am picking up 50 new subscribers every week on account of my promotion. So, I ran my promotion again with similar results.

At the end of six weeks, I thought to myself, "Wow! I picked up 300 new subscribers for my efforts."

Then a funny thing happened. I stopped the promotion for a few weeks and found myself up only twenty subscribers from when I started my freebie campaign.

Odd I thought. At the time, I was running my own list server, and I had a hankering to know the truth.

If you don't know what a "hankering" is, I am from Oklahoma, so we get those a lot. ;-) Dictionary.com defines a "hankering" as, "To have a strong, often restless desire."

When you have a hankering and you have the time, you can find the truth of a matter.

After comparing the timing of the release of my "freebie" advertisement with the subscription timestamps, comparing those with my new subscriber comments to eliminate the people who told me they subscribed as a result of a referral, and then comparing the remaining addresses to my unsubscription records, I learned what I should have known in advance of my campaign.

90% of the people who came for the freebie were gone in a week. A full 99% of the people who came for the freebie were gone in three weeks. Only 1% of the freebie takers lasted for more than a few weeks, and a large majority of those were completely gone after three months.

The successes that I felt that I had accomplished, from offering a freebie for subscription, turned out to be a complete waste of my time and energy.

NEVER EVER GIVE AWAY YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER

Those of you who know who I am also know that I offer a service of value to people who write articles to promote their online businesses.

Now and again, I will get someone knocking on my door, promising me tons of new business, if only I will give them one freebie to prove the value of my service.

Going against my better instincts, I did take this offer on two occasions. I won't do it again.

See, the thing is that the writer is responsible for creating a title that is appealing to both the publishers and the readers. Without a good title, an article will fail to produce results.

The writer is responsible for the creation of the article and the presentation of his information in an interesting and intriguing manner. Without a good story, an article will fail to produce results.

The writer is responsible for the wording of the Author's Resource Box. If the resource box is unappealing to the reader, then the reader will not click through and review the writer's website or program.

The writer is responsible for tackling a topic that would be of interest to his target market. If an article does not reach the people who would be interested in what the writer is selling, then the article will again fail to produce the desired results.

If a writer sends me a crud article that has no hope for accomplishing the results that he or she desires, then the fault is not mine. I did my part. I put their article into the hands of more than 12,000 publishers who were looking for content to reprint in their ezines and their websites.

If the writer fails to create an article that will serve his desired end, and he gets to use my service to put it into circulation, then the writer will need a scapegoat for his or her failure. There I am, the scapegoat for the failures of the writer.

I SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MYSELF, THEY SAY...

The last guy who asked me to give a freebie distribution for his article got mad when I said no. He proceeded to brow beat me for being unwilling to give away something away in order to earn his business on the backside. After all he said, he gives away a lot of free stuff on his website to drum up new business.

It is true that it takes a lot to ruffle my feathers. Everyone who knows me well knows that it takes a miracle to make me mad. This is a fact seriously upsets my wife when she is in a mood to argue... ;-)

This guy made me mad, but I held my temper in check.

Sir, if you knew me, you would also know that I give several hours of my week to help other writers distribute their articles for free on the internet. People who know me know that I own and moderate hundreds of open-membership, moderated-posting, article distribution groups on the internet.

It takes a lot of my time to make these resources available to the internet community and to make sure that these resources are not abused, and I do not get paid to provide these "free" writer resources.

Sir, I give a lot back to the writer's who make up the writing community on the internet. I just don't give away my bread and butter. And, if I were to give away a bread and butter job, I would much prefer to give that service to a paying customer rather than to a person who out-of-the-blue is promising me the moon and the stars.

    IN CONCLUSION

I don't give away my bread and butter, to anyone, and you should not either. There is a time and place for everything, including freebies. Just be careful that you don't give your products and services to people who are only there to get a freebie from you.

5 Keys To Making Money Online

    Writen by Keith Kingston

Would you believe there are tens of thousands of people who have found ways to make money online? Not only that, but their incomes are significant and growing, due to little competition and low cost of entry. If I can do it, then there is no reason why you can't. You can literally begin making money right away.

There are many, many, opportunities online, but here are the 5 factors you really need to consider, to guarantee your success:

    1. Set your goals.
As with any business you need to set goals. Goals help you visualize where you want to go, and keep you motivated when you get up in the morning. You goal may be to earn $500 or $10000 a month, it may be to take that dream vacation, or it may be to give up your job. These are all great goals. It is imperative that you write them down and reread them often. You need a short term goal - e.g monthly goal, to keep you motivated from day to day and a longer term goal 1-2 years - to keep you on track and prevent you from chucking it in. I am confident that if you adopt a positive attitude and embrace your goals then you will soon be making money online.

    2. Take time to research.
As I alluded to earlier there are many people making money online - and there are thousands of different businesses that you can try. The internet is a mine field of information and "making money online" opportunities are not difficult to find. However you will need to decipher the genuine opportunities from the scams. Many online promises are just methods to extract money from you. Some do's and don'ts

DON'T fall for the "get rich quick schemes" that promise huge returns in record time
DO try and email or telephone for more information
DO search online for feedback on the opportunity e.g. try name of opportunity + scam
DON'T part with money without consulting a friend you can trust and/or sleeping on it.

    3. Find something that you like.
You're the boss now - so do yourself a favor and choose something you enjoy. This will greatly enhance your chances of success. A few things to consider:

    Do you enjoy writing?
Do you enjoy talking to people?
Do you enjoy working on the computer?
Do you have a flair for sales?
Are there particular things that you are passionate about e.g sports, music?
Do you want to be contactable 24x7?
Do you want to have flexible/fixed hours?

Personally I like to work on my computer on my own time and my choice of internet business matches this. Find out what suits you, and you can weed out the business ventures which are not for you. Don't settle for second best - choose something you are comfortable with.

    4. Find something worth your while.
While it is a good idea to avoid the sales pitch that promises the sun, moon, and stars; it is also important that you don't take the safe option - that guarantees $5 an hour for sending emails, filling our surveys, or licking stamps. These amount to you underselling yourself, because the opportunities of making money on the internet are so much greater. Look for systems which offer a good monthly return for a few hours work a day - if you find something with a residual income all the better.

    5. Anything for an easier life!
One of my motivations for venturing into internet marketing was to create an easier life for myself. As I sat in my day job I used to think - "There must be easier ways to make money" - and there are! Earning a living online means that you have the luxury of working from home and choosing your own hours. It is important that you can exploit these perks, by being able to take time off, take extra vacations and spend more time with your family. You need to avoid the 40-50 hours a week for the sake of your sanity.

You have taken the first step by reading this article - you now just need to act upon it. I wish you the very best in your online endeavors.

    Golden Rules Of Niche Marketing

    Writen by Ritesh Shah

WIIFM - What's In It For Me, is probably the most important rule. Whether the purpose of visiting a website is to access information or to buy a product/service, the visitor always has WIIFM in the forefront.

Look at your own areas of interest first. It is much easier to create information, a product or a service in ones own of interest. This does not mean that a new area of interest cannot be learnt.

Become an EXPERT in the specific area by providing valuable information in the area of interest. Remember WIIFM, because the visitor to the website needs to have a high level of comfort and trust. The best way to becoming an expert is to become Passionate about the area of interest.

To create comfort and trust always under-promise and over-deliver. Remember visitors will NOT part with their hard earned cash for anything without substance. One method which has been successful for centuries is to give something of value, away as a Free Gift. Everyone wants something for free.

If it is feasible, build in a Money Back Gaurantee. Again this creates a high level of comfort and trust. The longer the gaurantee the easier the sale. 90 days money back gaurantee is better than 30 days. Make sure that the money back gaurantee is not just an idle promise, but something that can be carried through.

The product must have a USP - Unique Selling Proposition. It must be unique to you and MUST differentiate from other products. Otherwise the perception of an Expert will not exist and over time visitors will quickly lose interest.

The ultimate aim should be to get the visitors email address. By having a powerful USP combined with WIIFM and all the other rules mentioned above the visitors will be more than willing to give the email address. These email address will become your biggest asset from which fortunes can be made.

Here is an interesting story. Hotmail was created by someone offering a free email account, which became the largest list of free emails globally. Bill Gates/Microsoft bought out Hotmail for a reported $300 million. Not bad for something that was given away for free.

Recently, I came across a tutorial course of an e-book and a set of videos which outlined a step-by-step process to ultimately achieve success in Internet Marketing. It's a complete course creating a business model, searching for a "Niche", setting up a website to collecting payment from prospective buyers.

All the ingredients necessary to create an Internet Marketing feast are available through the e-book/videos tutorial outlining the whole process necessary to run an online business, is set out in a methodical, easy to follow manner. You'll be able to:

    • Research for ideas

    • Create INFO products based on the ideas with your own USP

    • Create your own website

    • Set up a Merchant account to collect the payment

    • And a lot more besides, too numerous to mention

    Wish you all the PROSPERITY

How To Do A Simple Split Test And Improve Your Marketing Guaranteed

    Writen by Alexandria K. Brown

One great thing about marketing on the Internet is it's all very trackable, if you do it right. That means you can easily and quickly figure out what works BEST for your business.

How would you like to know which headlines better get people's attention? Or what price point is more appealing to your target market?

The good news is it's very EASY to find out, with something called a SPLIT TEST.

In the past, setting up a split test practically required an advanced programming degree. But now, all you need to do a split test is a website, something to sell, and a good shopping cart system that will do the test for you. (I use, swear by, and recommend QueenCart.com.)

    Here's what to do:

    1. Create the web sales page for your product. Make sure it's FINAL and everything is in place. (For step-by-step instructions on writing a web page that SELLS, see my quick-start guide.)

    2. Create a duplicate sales page, but give it a different URL. For example, your first sales page could be www.mywebsite.com/salespageA.htm and your second sales page could be www.mywebsite.com/salespageB.htm. This is more for YOU to easily keep track and tell the difference between the two pages.

    3. Change ONE variable on sales page B. The important thing here is to only change ONE thing.

A few things you can test:
    * a different headline
    * a different price
    * a different photo
    * a different bonus.

    4. Set up your split test. The fastest and easiest way to do this is using the "Ad Tracker" feature in QueenCart.com. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up!

All you need to do is enter both URLs. The system will then give you a tracking link. You'll use THIS link in your emails you send to your list. When your readers click on the link, the system will automatically alternate each visitor, sending visitor 1 to page A, visitor 2 to page B, visitor 3 to page A, visitor 4 to page B, and so on. And if a person returns to the link, she will be directed to the same page she saw. (Neat, yes?)

    5. Interpret your results.

When you log into QueenCart.com to view your test results, it will not only tell you how many sales came from each page, but the percentage difference in sales.

The information you can learn from a simple split test can be INVALUABLE to growing your business! For example, I instructed one of my clients to test her new program at two price points: $87 and $97. She made 20 sales at $87 but NONE at $97. That means that $87 is a price ceiling for that group on this particular topic. (If she had made equal sales at both price points, I would have instructed her to make it $97 from now on, and to keep raising the price via testing until it hits a ceiling.)

Another example: One test I did during a product launch revealed that a simple change in the *design* of the sales page resulted in 25% more sales! So you can be sure I used that design going forward.

You don't have to use split testing only for sales. Wouldn't it be great to know which pages on your website get more opt-ins? QueenCart.com can also tell you how many people opt-in for your ezine while they're there.

See how fun and interesting this can be? : ) Using simple tests like this GUARANTEES that you are ALWAYS improving your results.

Now, every time I release ANY new product or program, I always use it as an opportunity to continually improve my marketing. And you should too! (QueenCart.com even has a FREE 30-day trial for you to test this out.)

    Whats Your Niche

    Writen by Theresa Cahill

Everyone tells you to find a niche, which is fine, but what niche and how?

Starting at the beginning, you develop your niche based on a few factors including: 1) what you are interested in, and 2) what might be interesting to others. Obviously, there are others, but these two factors cover a lot of ground.

Recently, I've been paying particular attention to keywords - not just the ones I've used on my website, but those being searched for in the major search engines.

Mike's Marketing Tools is a good place to begin since he offers three basic needs right at my fingertips - one of these being my ability to easily check and see what search terms are currently (and in the past) popular.

For example, there were 513 searches for the keywords "1962 World's Fair."

So what could a person do with this you ask? Tsk, tsk... where's your imagination?! Say you're interested in Fairs Around the World. You create your website, scour the net for input and content (NO stealing!), and put up your website.

Then, you go back out onto the web and search down similar/complimentary websites to your own.

You email them or call them and begin communication on the benefits of partnering up.

Suddenly, 1200 people are searching for the "1962 World's Fair," and you're one of the ones they come to for information.

So, is there money in such a site? Frankly, who knows...?? But imagine if you extended yourself and located gift items or ebooks or services related to "Fairs Around the World." If they like what they see, people DO buy online.

My point? Maybe too many of us are thinking "marketing" when we need to be thinking "World's Fair."

You'd still have to advertise your website, create your mailing lists, contact them, etc., but you're not trying to push the latest ebook on a bitty part of the internet world - many already familiar with, and may have, that very same ebook.

Get creative! Make a habit of checking keywords until the right idea for the right thing strikes YOU!

Consumer Website Marketing With Content The Case Of Amazoncom

    Writen by Joel Walsh

Amazon is widely recognized as the most successful ecommerce site in history. Much discussion has been devoted to the role of Amazon's affiliate program, website usability, website personalization, and capital investments. But little attention has been paid to the vital role content plays on the Amazon site, and how big an advantage Amazon has over its competitors thanks to content.

    How Does Amazon Use Content?

Unlike most ecommerce sites, Amazon doesn't stop at a simple product image and a blurb.

    * Amazon includes just about every bit of text the manufacturer or publisher of the item provided. For books, this is the publisher's description and selected quotations of reviews.

    * Then there are the famous user reviews. A lot of sites give visitors an opportunity to cast a review, but few sites accord their reviews the pride of place that Amazon does, with the result that there is rarely a product or book on Amazon that doesn't have at least a few reviews.

    * Finally, there are the original reviews Amazon's in-house writers create. Even with a wealth of content it does not have to pay a writer for, Amazon still sees the value in professionally crafted words.

What Advantages does Web Content Bring Amazon?

    * Eyeballs. A visitor who is reading something is much more likely to stick around the site. And as every web marketer knows, the longer the visit, the better the chance of them buying something. Meanwhile, you're much more likely to turn to Amazon in the future when you're in the early stages of shopping. After all, Amazon is one of the few ecommerce sites that actually provides the information you need to make a decision.

    * Mindshare. Were you ever sitting on the fence about buying something, until you read something on Amazon that sold you? You probably didn't realize it at the time–we all like to think our decisions are ours alone and not the product of careful marketing–but carefully placed content was working its magic on your decision-making.

    * Trust. An oft-overlooked dimension of content on ecommerce is sites is how it can built trust enough in visitors to make them feel comfortable pulling out their credit cards. The ultimate trust issue in ecommerce is that the product isn't really what the visitor wants, that when it finally arrives it won't be quite what you had in mind. Detailed information about the item goes a long way to assuaging those fears.

    * Search engine traffic. Certainly there have been numerous times when you've searched on a product or book name and Amazon was one of the first results. How often do you see Overstock.com or BarnesandNoble.com appear? How could they? They don't have anywhere near as much text for a search engine to base its listing on.

    * Reduced advertising expenditures. Overstock.com has launched a relatively massive (for the web world) television advertising campaign along with a significant web advertising campaign. It's even followed through on the campaign with a lot of truly great bargains. Yet Amazon.com is still number-one in ecommerce and has not felt the need to make a big splash on offline media in quite a while. When you have the search engine traffic and mindshare that website content brings, even the biggest advertising budgets will have a hard time unseating you.

In short, Amazon may have the most sophisticated and carefully fine-tuned ecommerce operation in existence, but it still appreciates one of the most time-honored methods of selling something: words. If your business doesn't have the advertising budget of Overstock.com or the brand recognition of Barnes and Noble, that's an encouraging fact indeed.

The Most Important Aspect Of Internet Marketing Ever

    Writen by Mark Flavin

    Hi there,

It is still scary to see how many internet marketers overlook email marketing.

Every good marketer should knows that the "wealth is in the list" & if you are not collecting the email address's of visitors to your website you are losing money.

Today I will share a few tips with you on building a list quickly.

    1) Make your offer interesting

Do not just have a message saying "join my list" Offer free content, free ebooks, free software share some of your tactics & strategies with your visitors Otherwise even if you are trying to collect address's people simply wont join.

    2) Use a pop-up window

Yes I know everyone hates pop-up's but they work. Put you free offer and email subscribe form on a pop up when a visitor leaves your site this greatly increases your chances of them buying off you because chances are if they don't leave there email, you will never see them again

    3) (My Personal Pick) - Build A Website Especially For Collecting Email Address's!!!

This will greatly increase your chance of getting those precious subscribers. Give them an offer they cant refuse, free content & free ebooks & software.

Free tips they just cant live without & so on.

This works like a charm, i have an conversion rate of 25% on my website. That means that of evey 4 visitors to my site one of them signs up!!!

    That's an unbelievable conversion.

Why? Because i give them an irresistible offer

Ok, I hope this info helps you start or Improve your list.

Till next time Mark Flavin http://nicetodobusiness.com http://themark3.emailaces.com

    A Marketing Conundrum

    Writen by Henry Ramsey

Ignoring the problem or getting bent out of shape over it isn't going to make it go away. I am referring to the sad state of affairs of modern day popular culture and just how far from authenticity we have sunk in our search for meaning in life. Much of the world is entering what is being called the 'Bread and Circuses' phase of declining empire. A phase preoccupied with credit binging, fiat money and spectacle. The Romans went through a similar period of decay, Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

Then as now, there are many narrowly focused people out there in the world with money to spend who only want to be entertained. They care not a hoot for dignity, synergy or edified social discourse. Reading, the News Hour, National Public Radio, debates...how boring. Glamour, glitter and action, that's where it's at. Seeking diversion in fun and games is a sign of the times, and noble or not, the astute marketer can realize that there is a lot of money to be made catering to the praetorian.

In order to be successful online, as offline, when selling either a product or a service, there must exist a market for what you are selling. By targeting the multi-billion dollar, global, entertainment market, a nobody's fool Internet marketer can focus on one of the largest and still exponentially growing markets available, second only to the porn industry. This market is packed full of people who are searching for new and exciting products having anything to do with gambling, sports, celebrity, lotteries, glitz, gossip, or any combination thereof.

The conundrum, or perhaps we should call it hypocrisy, is that many of us pretend to righteousness when it comes to say selling seedy sex online, but have no qualms about taking peoples money for any other imaginable swindle as long as it isn't jailie. The fact is, people are going to attempt to fill the void in their lives by throwing money away whether we, as astute observers, are there or not to relieve them of some of it. When gambling was illegal, it didn't cure people from the desire to beat the odds despite common sense and logic, it only drove the passion underground, and enriched and fostered a nasty criminal element to cater to them. At least now, as with lotteries, it is a taxation on idiocy, and we are no longer our brothers keepers.

There is no reason I can think of not to put that money to better use, and I can only do that if it is in my pocket. Foolish people with too much freedom and too little self control or respect for themselves, are aggressively bent on seeking their vicarious thrills, so who am I to deny them. Standing on a soapbox extolling the virtues of thrift and husbandry will only earn me derision and ridicule. Since I am in the upscale marketing business, there is one mantra that I will adhere to in taking on these 'products' and that is to provide variety, selection and quality to the customer.

When all is said and done, catering to human foibles in this manner may actually be more honest and sincere than the present day cons and swindles of corporations, wall street or mainstream politics. In this regard then, it is incumbent upon me to find the most professional and legitimate programs available to offer my customers since my reputation and business ethics are at stake; long term credibility and viability being paramount.

Gambling and celebrity worship were traditionally the purview of the sharkskin suit and gold chain set, but with the advent of the Internet, anyone can enter the game. But this enterprise as with any other, to be ultimately successful must provide a needed service honestly and with integrity. The business model has to be approached and structured to be open and above board to both the people providing the service and those partaking of it. There is a lot of money to be made from a world lost to the grace of higher pursuits...but there is no denying the mad pursuit of happiness. To this end, I am offering a vehicle that offers professionalism and savvy in profiting from this phenomena. Join with me by visiting advanced-web-profits.blogspot.com. There is lots of room for all of us to participate in redistributing this wealth. I decidedly frown on purveyors who exploit others for personal gain, however, if our perspective customers wish to exploit themselves, that is a matter of their own concern.

Its No Different Traditional Business Vs Online

    Writen by Jason Hendricks

When speaking with clients, I often find myself using the phrase "It's no different online" to explain the similarities and common characterics of traditional brick-and-mortar businesses with online business. The majority of my current clients have never developed a website nor run a successful online business (usually their first online endeavor) so it's important for me to communicate online marketing information in ways that can be easily digested. I need the client to completely relate their experience and knowledge with the concepts I'm explaining in order for them to gain full comprehension (and actually learn as opposed to just listening).

So let's elaborate on this and take it a step further. For a minute, let's just say that the online world (that I love so much) was still just an archaic system for scientists to share documents. No e-commerce sites, blogs, search engines, nothing at all. You've never even heard of AOL, dial-up, or the internet whatsoever.

You're starting a business and want to list some of the marketing related tasks to start your new retail storefront. You've already rounded up a full selection of products/services and have your unique selling proposition all ready to go. What's next?

    1. You need a great name. While including the name of the product or service that you sell (without making the name too long) is a great way to ensure customers easily recognize what you have to offer, it's definitely not necessary. A name that customers easily remember and that seems to almost brand itself is far more important. Picking up an established name might be a good idea, depending on the company's history and public opinion of that company.

Online Equivalent: Choosing a domain name

    2. Next is your logo, branding, and identity. Portraying the right image is crucial to your company's success. The store should include your branding where appropriate, be very functional to the consumer, and have a flow that encourages buying. You also want to ensure that your store is inviting to users and customers are made aware of special pricing. Consistency is also important and provides a general aesthetic appeal.

Online Equivalent: Logo and Website Design

    3. Pick your location carefully. Have plenty of parking in a high traffic area, and make sure it's a nice safe neighborhood with other quality businesses around you. If you can afford to do so, occupy your own stand-alone building instead of in a strip mall or large shopping mall.

Online Equivalent: Hosting Company or Server Co-location

    4. Store must be easy for customers to get to and be easily accessible by all visitors. A well laid-out store is a great asset as it aids in the overall buyer experience. Prevelance is given to items that you feel are very important but clearly marked aisles are a must. Shelves must be well organized and help for finding what you're looking for be present at all times.

Online Equivalent: Site Architecture, Link Structure, and Site Map

    5. Create marketing materials and educational brochures to inform potential customers while soft-selling by including company information and contact info, distributed via US Mail and by handing out to businesses directly.

Online Equivalent: Email Marketing, Press Releases, Article Distribution

    6. Partner with other related businesses to get the word out about each others companies, or simply offer your sales/informational materials in their store without providing their info in your store. Find educational, government, and charitable organizations that you can provide products/services for at a discount or for free in exchange for advertising consideration.

Online Equivalent: Link Building, Directory Submission, Content Hosting (Pre-Sell Pages)

    7. To expose your business to customers looking for exactly what you have to offer, advertise in relevant television, print, and classified ads.

Online Equivalent: Pay Per Click, Banner Ads, Text Link Advertising

    8. Produce a catalog that details every product/service by department, and update it regularly. Ensure priority is given to certain items by assigning a high priority (featuring on cover and/or backpage).

Online Equivalent: Comparison Shopping Feeds, XML Sitemaps

Obviously this isn't an exhaustive list of the tasks involved in starting a company, just a short example to show that it really isn't any different online. While the tools and methods may be completely unrelated, it's all just marketing. If executed poorly, positive results won't follow. But unlike traditional businesses if online marketing is done successfully the rewards can be exponentially greater since the boundaries haven't even been predicted yet.

Online Marketing Five Principles That Help You Succeed Now

    Writen by Stephanie Diamond

I have been working for Internet companies since 1994. First at America Online and now in my own marketing and design business. The only online marketing rule I adhere to is that things are constantly changing. That could make marketing difficult. To keep moving forward, I use the following five principles:

    1. Ask the right questions

Unless you ask the right marketing questions, you will waste a lot of your valuable time on things that don't matter. Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying, "If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend six hours sharpening my ax." Gather the people you trust to work on business problems and ask them to make a list of the three main problems your customers have identified for you. Then analyze those problems to see what marketing questions you should be asking. Instead of asking how to increase revenue, perhaps you should be asking how to make it easier for your customers to check out using your shopping cart. Continue to drill down and simplify until you have a list of very specific questions and set about to answer those.

    2. 'Think Big; Act Small'

This principle captures what I think is imperative for anyone marketing online today. Jason Jennings' book 'Think Big Act Small' details how companies succeed by maintaining a small business attitude. Embrace the qualities that 'smallness' provides- quick improvements, employees that are close to the problem and the ability to connect with your customers. I've worked with companies that assume their competitors are better because they have deeper pockets. The notion that more marketing dollars ensure success is misguided at best. Look at your product or service and continue to improve it. Online buyers want quality and service. That part never changes.

    3. Search for what's different and strive to understand it

The popularity of online marketing tactics go up and down like the stock market. Pop-ups, podcasts, ezines and blogs are all effective if applied to the right audience at the right time. The key is to continually ask yourself, "what's different today?" Are customers suddenly responding to something you don't highlight? Are they bored with your current promotion? Read everything you can about new ideas and cultural trends. You don't have to try to apply every one of them, but you do need to know what your customer knows. Keying into changes on a weekly basis ensures that you won't suddenly find yourself with an outdated marketing strategy and no customers.

    4. If you're not the customer, ask her!

Don't spend your time debating with other staffers about what you 'think' your customer wants. Unless you ARE the target customer, you don't really know. I have listened to endless debates about customer needs based on no actual customer data. Ask your customers. They will be happy to tell you what they think. If you don't want to hear what they think, you've got a different problem.

    5. Do what's difficult

I find that this principle separates the wannabes from the real innovators. If you know what tactics need to be applied to make a difference, but you are too lazy or disinterested to try them then stop reading now. Nothing you do will make a difference until you tackle the hard work necessary to grow. If you need a better designed website, a new database or an easier shopping cart, you need to do that, NOW.

Advice Before You Go Into Online Marketing

    Writen by Kimberly Carter

I have a tip for ya'll that I have personally learned myself. Always look for something unique to affiliate with, or to run a business on. Before you jump into something do a google search on the subject of it, and see how many you are competing with. Once you do that ask yourself if you can truely take on all those sites, and succeed above them? Also remember just because something is popular, and is selling and such good, it doesn't mean it will do well for you. I got some great, simple advice once when I was running an Amazon affiliate site. I was having some Amazon affiliates critique my site, and I got one comment that totally blew me away! The guy said to me "think about it. Why would someone want to come to your Amazon affiliate site when they can go to the actual Amazon site, and buy from there?" When I read that comment I was shocked. I had never ever thought of that before I paid the money for that site, and the saddest part was that the guy was right.

Alot of people, like I did once I admit, only look for stuff that is popular, and selling good. The problem with that though is the fact that if you do the same thing everyone else is doing you have to ask yourself "why would they come to my site, and not this other person's site that is just like mine?"

You want to be unique as you can be in this business. Sometimes it is hard too, but always stick to this advice. When I finally got this kind of advice etched in my head I started to make unique sites. At first it was very hard because of the different names of my sites people would criticize it, but I stuck to my weird domain names, and guess what? Go to google and do a search for wordpressing. My site is #1! and most of the links there are from my site. Now go to the google search bar and type in the word cheapfreearticles . I'm the only site there! What does this mean to me? Not only did I get top google rankings for FREE, but I maybe have 10 websites that compete with me. It's like gold in this business, and it's all because I broke free from the "popular sites", and made my own unique site.

    Hope this helps

Kimberly is usually posting in forums, and running her three sites : http://ww.wordpressing.net, http://www.cheapfreearticles.com, and http://www.from-a-to-z.net

Moving Tips For Expats To India

    Writen by Shiji Abraham

    Know India Before you Move

As an Indian I was asked by many of my friends from different countries about the opportunities, customs, traditions, behavior and much other information at various occasions. This has made me to think of an accumulated answer to all these general questions together which will be very much useful and handy for any foreigner who visit India as a tourist, move in to work or relocate with family for business or employment.

India used to be a closed control-and-command economy until the early `90s. Since then it has opened its economy, and allows foreign investments in most industries except a few strategic ones. Over the last 15 years, the Indian economy has enjoyed an average annual GDP growth of around 6% which has grown to 7.5% in recent times. This has attracted many multinationals to India which resulted in the increase of foreign nationals moving to India.

India is a country with 28 states and 7 union territories .There are 18 official languages and more than 300 spoken languages in India. Population as per the censes in 2001 is 1,027,015,247 and total Area of the country is - 1,027,015,247 sqkm

    Tips on General Behavior:

The traditional way of greeting in India is performed by holding your palms together, as in praying, and saying `Namaste` [nah-mas-tay] or `Namaskar` [nah-mas-kar], with a slight bow.

While, the Namaste or Namaskar are Hindu ways of greeting, they are also accepted among all other communities. These other communities, however, also have their own traditional greetings. For instance, among Muslims, the traditional greeting is `Salaam-Wale-Kum`, which is responded to by saying `Wale-kum-Salaam.` Similarly, Sikhs traditionally greet each other by saying `Sat-Siree-Akaal.`

Shaking hands is also an acceptable way to greet people among urban and westernized Indians.

Among the younger urban Indians, a `Hello` or `Hi` with a wave of the hand is also an acceptable form of greeting when making informal contact.

In general, Indian society is conservative about heterosexual physical contact and relationships. Refrain from greeting people with hugs and kisses.

Shaking hands with women, since it involves physical touch, is not universally accepted in Indian society. Among the urban westernized Indians, you may find some Indian women offering to shake hands. However, it is advisable to shake hands only when it is offered. In most other situations, `Namaste` is the safest way to greet--in fact, it will also be appreciated as a gesture of friendliness.

It is customary to allow women and guests to proceed before yourself.

The acceptable way to beckon someone is to hold your hand out, palm downward, and make a scooping motion with fingers. Beckoning someone with a wagging finger, with the palm upward is seen as an authoritarian/ condescending signal, and will be perceived as an insult.

Do not point to someone with your finger, since that is likely to be interpreted as an accusatory gesture. Use of hand/palm or chin is a more acceptable way of pointing towards someone.

Standing erect with your hands on your hips is likely to be seen as an aggressive and dominating posture.

Among Indians, it is normal for them to use their hands to gesticulate while talking with each other. Folded hands, or hands in one`s pockets while talking are likely to be perceived as arrogant gestures.

Whistling and winking are usually perceived as rude and unacceptable behaviors, as they have sexual connotations.

Talking to a woman who is walking alone is not advisable, since it is likely to be seen as a proposition or other inappropriate gesture.

Seniority, age and authority are respected in India, both in business and in public life.

While there are many topics of conversation which Indians find engaging, there are a few which are quite popular. These are: Politics, Cricket, Films and, in recent times, Indian Economic Reforms. Taking the time to do some advance preparation on these subjects can be very helpful in building rapport and establishing one`s acceptance.

Indians are enthusiastic about discussing politics and political figures. A foreigner can sometimes find the level of political awareness of an average Indian surprising. It is important, however, to recognize that politics in India is very diverse, and the political issues are often regional in nature. Thus, certain political topics may be very local, and it is advisable to get involved only if you know about them.

Cricket in India is almost a national pastime. India has produced some world-class cricketers [e.g., Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, etc.] and Indians - even those who don`t play it - are passionate about the game. Cricket, for Indians, is not just about the game, but also about the cricketers, who are seen as national celebrities, and are idolized.

Custom Regulations: If you are planning to relocate to India you should have a basic idea about the custom procedures which will help you to decide what to carry with you and what not.

    Prohibited and restricted Items

Firearms, ammunition and weapons unless licensed in advance. Obscene literature, photographs or films. Politically undesirable literature and Narcotics.

    Entry for Foreign Nationals

Business visas (which have to be supported by a sponsoring corporation) are valid for four months stay that can be extended for up to six months. Beyond that, requires a minimum one year work permit (again supported by the sponsoring corporation), and applicants should allow a minimum of three months for the process. A valid work permit is essential prior to the arrival of household goods. Foreign nationals must possess a visa valid for one year from date of last entry, to avail of duty concessions under transfer of residence.

    Entry for Returning Indian Nationals

Owner should have resided out of India for a minimum period of two years preceding his transfer to India and intends to reside in India for a period of at least one year. Short visits to India in the preceding two years are promoted provided the total duration of stay in India does not exceed six months.

    Household goods

The owner must be physically in India before customs clearance can take place. Air shipments must be shipped within 15 days and surface shipments must be shipped within one month of owner`s arrival in India. All shipments are subject to customs examination and customs duties will be assessed, based on the Customs evaluation.

In general terms under Transfer of Residence, a TV, VCR, washing machine, cooking range, dish washer, music system, personal computer, air conditioner, refrigerator, deep freezer, microwave oven, video camera, word processing machine and telefax machine may be imported at a duty of 35% of assessed value provided

That the combined value of these items must not exceed Rs. 150,000 (approx. US$ 4250 at 1997 exchange rates). There must only be one of each such item in the shipment. Duplicate items or any sums in excess of Rs. 150,000 attracts 35% duty. Other household goods, provided they have been in the owner`s possession and use for one year, will be allowed free entry.

    Documentation

Owner`s Passport - Owner must be present in India at the time of customs clearance. List of articles with values and date of purchase. Customs Declaration Form signed by owner. Original Ocean Bill of lading. Diplomatic consignment - Duty free exemption certificate issued by Diplomatic Mission in India.

    Promoter of online directories
